How can I turn off rain animation and sound?

  • #1 Apr 28, 2013

All I want to do is turn off the rain animation and sound. Not turn off weather itself, just the animation, so I can have it off in SMP.

Optifine is able to do this, but optifine doesn't work on my computer. So clearly it's possible, but -how- does optifine do it? what does it change? Is it something I could do manually?

    Any help is appreciated.

You need a mod, with "single player commands" installed you can type...

    /weather rain
    /weather thunder
/weather lightning (also strikes a lightning bolt where cursor is, can be fun if mapped to a hotkey so you can rain lightning down on your enemies, or chickens... ;) )

To toggle them on or off if already on.

If you install TooManyItems it has a rain button at the top left side of the GUI screen that toggles rain on or off.

Edit: Unfortunately both methods "turn off the weather" as in the murky sky/gloom also.

The problem is that I can't use those in SMP, that's why I need to be able to just turn off the -animation- on my own client.

Well for what I know, you can turn off rain animation in Optifine. As for sound, I do not know if you can do that without turning off the in game noise.

Then sorry but optifine is the only way I know off to turn off the rain effects for your client only.

So why doesn't optifine work on your computer? Pretty much works for everyone I have heard of with widely varying degrees of success at improving (or hurting) framerates but the other features seem to work almost universally.

I havent seen Optifine hurt my fps in Minecraft at all. Maybe there are reports of it doing so, but only because they dont know how to work Optifine since it can improve certain features like draw distance and all.

Optifine works fine for a while but after a few teleports or just running around for about 20 min my fps suddenly drops to about 3 and then 1 and even the menu screen gets extremely slow and choppy until I close and open the client again.

You can turn in off the rain sound by switching you particles option from all to minimal.

/weather is a vanilla Minecraft command though.

    Don't you mean /weather clear?

Thank you. The sound was the most annoying part.
